Well, we actually disagree.
We do formulate with natural ingredients where they are the best option, but we look to science to help us choose bioidenticals where they are more sustainable and synthetics where they are less irritating or less harmful to the body.
By using synthetic ingredients that give the same olfactory experience you love, we minimise the dangerous effects on your skin.
We are 100% non-toxic,
unlike almost every
other perfume out there.
Most so-called ‘luxury’ fragrances contain phthalates – chemicals used to artificially lengthen the life of a scent and which can interfere with hormone levels – along with irritants, synthetic dyes, alarming preservatives and unnecessary plasticisers.
Not us. We are EWG approved. The EWG Skin Deep database has rated each ingredient throughout our fragrance collection as ‘low’ on their toxicity scale, meaning none of them are known to be harmful.
Natural ingredients have been proven to cause hypersensitivity and allergic reactions in some people. Additionally, just because it’s natural doesn’t mean it’s possible to use an ingredient at volume and remain sustainable: as an example, the water footprint of just one rose is estimated to be up to 13 litres. That’s’ why we thoroughly consider the mix we use of botanicals and synthetics.

We are 100% vegan
We do not use animal products or by-products (such as musks, nitromusks or ambergris) or use animal testing. We are PETA certified, and cruelty free across our whole supply chain.

Who are these fragrances for?
We don't believe in gender-specific fragrances. Wear whatever makes your heart and soul sing.
What's the bottle made from?
Our bottles are 98% recyclable and use 25% recycled glass. We use aqueous-based, non-toxic, food-standard paint, the most environmentally conscious coating on the market.
We only use FSC paper.
Our fragrances are formulated and bottled in the UK, supporting British businesses and reducing our carbon footprint. Our commitment to small batch production ensures that nothing is wasted.
Does toxin-free mean no headaches?
Because we don't use toxins and are incredibly careful with our ingredients, it's extremely rare for our fragrances to cause sensitivity issues.
Most of our customers are delighted to find that Medeau fragrances are among the few they can happily wear every day.
Can I wear this while pregnant/breastfeeding?
When founder Allison Stubbings was pregnant and searching for a luxury scent that was non-toxic, she simply couldn't find one.
And so Medeau was born.
Our fragrances contain no toxic ingredients, dyes or endocrine disruptors - so enjoy them whenever you like.

I have loved Origin since it was first released, and was very excited to try the new scents. I will happily rotate all four depending on my mood but I think Safara is my new favourite. It's not overly sweet or musky, and makes me feel like I'm basking in the sun in a lush, elegant garden overlooking the Mediterranean. A perfume full of possibility! The added bonus is of course the beautiful packaging and brand ethos.
