Ingredients in the Home - Choosing Clean Products

In our home, we use natural cleaning products and clean beauty products. I think this is particularly important if you have children. It's not the fact that any one ingredient in any one product is harmful, it's the bioaccumulation of hundreds of potentially toxic ingredients that you put on your skin or inhale (e.g. cleaning products or perfumes) that is a worry. The world of clean beauty, and choosing the right products for you can take time and be complicated, so I wanted to share some of the products that we use in our home to assist you when making decisions.

For cleaning products and hand wash, I love Tincture. All of their products are safe, yet effective, and they only use 100% natural, sustainable and non-toxic ingredients. Over the years we've tried a lot of different shampoos and body wash. The ones that we always go back to are Drunk Elephant and Rahua. Both feel as luxurious and work as well as more conventional ones. Drunk Elephant's philosophy is centred around only using ingredients that directly benefit the health of your skin, and they choose ingredients based on biocompatibility. Rahua is known for their pure ingredients, their products are sustainable and actively work towards preserving the Amazon Rainforest.

For makeup products, I use a combination of Ilia, Tropic, Arbonne and RMS. Ilia offers a fuss-free philosophy where they consciously and carefully select their ingredients with no compromise. Tropic offers freshly made, cruelty-free and natural products for both Mum and Child that are kind to your skin. Arbonne believes in a holistic approach to beauty, health and wellbeing, using premium plant-based ingredients grounded in science and clinical research to create their products. RMS offers clean beauty, using a farm-to-face recipe that features living ingredients.

I absolutely love Odacite for my face wash and Biossance for my skincare routine - it is EWG verified with minimal essential oils which are good for sensitive skin but with active ingredients that work. They use the same philosophy as Medeau - with research behind every ingredient to ensure its safety.
